Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare Department has altered in the dress code of the nursing staffs in the Odisha Nursing Service cadre.
In a government notification it is mentioned that, Health & FW Department has come to the decision, after careful consideration of the proposal of Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association, have been pleased to decide in-principle to change the dress code for employees of Odisha Nursing Service Cadre as per specification attached herewith as Annexure 1 subject to the condition that the change of dress code will not have substantial financial implication on State Government.
The notification states, light lavender colour is chosen for the dress code of the Nursing Officer/Senior Nursing Officer and the ICU/OT/Labour Room staffs will be in ‘Scrub Suit’. whereas female staffs in General wards will be in Saree/Salwar & Kameez (3/4th sleeve top), and male staff will appear in shirt and formal trousers in a deep navy blue colour.
Similarly, the dress code colours have been selected for the Assistant Nursing Superintendent (ANS) as Cyan Blue, Nursing officers, ANS working in the ICU/OT/Labour room as ‘Scrub Suit’ . The dress code for female Assistant Nursing Superintendents is saree/salwar and kameez and males will be in a shirt along with a deep navy blue formal trousers.
In contrast to that, the dress codes of Deputy Nursing Superintendents (DNS)/Nursing Superintendents (NS) are selected as white colour at the same time they need to wear a ‘Scrub Suit’ in the ICU/OT/Labour Room. The same dress colour code will be applicable for the female staffs in the general wards, they will wear sarees and for male staffs, it is shirts along with deep navy blue colour formal trousers.
The commonality for all will be collar neck white apron will be bordered in Deep Purple Sambalpuri. At the same time, there has to be white half sleeve aprons for all Nursing Officers and Senior Nursing Officers in General Wards. For all the ANS/DNS/NS the apron will be full sleeve in General Wards. The most fascinating part is all officers of the cadre regardless of their rank will have their name with designation inscribed on their uniform.
The Nursing Superintendents will have a distinctive dark brown badge with their name designation, logo of the hospital.
