Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be Organized in Odisha; Website Launched by Foreign Minister and CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister of Odisha and Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar jointly have launched the website for the 18th Prabasi Bharatiya Divas convention on 12 November in New Delhi. On this occasion the external affairs minister has states the government of India keeps the highest importance for the betterment of the 35 million Indian diaspora. Kriti Vardhan Singh,  Minister of state for external affairs was also present at the launch ceremony.

The event of Prabasi Bharatiya Divas convention is a flagship event which gives the government a suitable platform and opportunity to engage with the Indian diaspora all across the globe. The event is going to be organized from 8- 10 January in the coming year in the capital city of Odisha, Bhubaneswar. This convention will be a collaborative effort of both the Central Government and the government of Odisha.

On the occasion of the launching ceremony of the website, obdindia.gov.in, external affairs minister Jaishankar stated it is an evident fact that the large Indian diaspora extends a steadfast support towards the continuous growth of India and holds a very robust bond with the government, as in each and every official foreign visits of the Honorable Prime Minister and the global Indian community meets and greets him with numerous excitement. The Union Minister conveyed that the support  of the Indian diaspora will remain unchanged towards India’ s movement for Viksit Bharat.

The chief minister of Odisha Mohan Majhi requested the Indian diaspora to visit Odisha, which is the state with highly rich culture and heritage and the state will welcome them utmost warmth and hospitality. He states, the global Indian community would enjoy rich historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of the state and cherish it. The CM urged them to participate in the upcoming convention in large numbers.

The main event will be inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 January, 2025. This time the theme of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention would be, “Diaspora’s contribution to a Viksit Bharat”.

There will a youth edition of the convention will be conducted in partnership with the ministry of youth affairs and sports. President Draupadi Murmu will confer the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awards and preside over the valedictory session.

The launch of the website marks the beginning of online registration for participating in the convention 2025. The website will assist the process of reservation for accommodation in Odisha and dispense a thorough information regarding the event.
