BJP Wins Delhi: what went wrong for AAP

Bhubaneswar:  The Delhi election result is a major setback for AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. BJP as a party possesses the ideology of complete political dominance. This victory of BJP in the Delhi election after three decades has contributed to the quest of BJP for political dominance.

Considering the kind of ideology the Aam Aadmi Party has started its journey, its complete election centeredness, complete dependence on Delhi, and more importantly the complete identification of the personality of Arvind Kejriwal, this defeat is a morale-shocking one for AAP. After such a shattering defeat there can be speculation as to whether the Aam Aadmi Party would survive in the coming times. Even it has been witnessed in the past that the AAP has gotten rid of such important party members who had joined the party for idealising certain principles that were set up initially.

The challenge of AAP hikes because in Gujarat it is doubtful that the party would get any more success,  in Haryana there is no breakthrough. So everything is dependent on the Punjab elections in 2027. But presently, the situation in Punjab is not very great for AAP.

Aam Aadmi Party was started as a great experiment in alternative politics. It is very sad that it had to come to such a situation where it first got rid of the idea of alternative or ethical politics. They came with good governance with smart policies, then reduced to a few popular schemes. Though the policies and schemes were good, the party hunched only on that by overlooking the other things like structural changes, infrastructure, pollution, basic facilities etc.  On top of that the major corruption charges on Arvind Kejriwal made the worst by shattering the hopes of the people on the party.

The Aam Aadmi Party is so much identified with the persona of Arvind Kejriwal that his personal defeat looks like the defeat for the party. Arvind Kejariwal himself had concentrated everything to his own persona, and he said this election was a referendum of his honesty. As he wanted a certificate from the people with regard to the corruption charges against him. So this is the consequences of the verdict.
