Bhubaneswar: Government of Odisha has amended the Odisha Excise Rules on banning women dancing in the bars. As per the amendment women dancing at bars are not allowed whereas women above the of 21 can perform at musical programs, orchestras at the licensed ‘on shops’ selling liquor and IMFL having prior permission from the Excise Commissioner.
The new set of rules have been come out to regulate the activity. According to the rules, the license can only be granted if there would be proper coverage of CCTV cameras within the premises and on the stage, have proper mechanisms to regulate the footage of the CCTV camera without getting tampered, the cameras should record the footage continuously without any fiddling around being done. The video footage must be produced to the ICC of the respective police station and the OIC of the Excise station.
The women who perform have to wear the kind of clothes as per the public decency. The performance stage will be barricaded by three feet high railing. There has to be a five feet distance between the audience and the stage.
The female dancers must be provided with separate washrooms with a proper lock system and they have to be given free transportation ensuring their safety and security.
Smoking will not be allowed there at the place as per the amended rule of prohibition of smoking in public places.
