Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to implement Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana for a wider health scheme coverage in the state from April 1. Under this scheme there will be health coverage of about 3.5 crore people in Odisha.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has taken this crucial decision in a high level meeting at the Lok Seva Bhawan on Wednesday. In the launch of this scheme, there will be programmes organized in all 1,438 primary health centres all over the state along with an extensive awareness campaign for promoting the scheme.
The state government and the National Health Authority have signed a MoU in New Delhi on January 13 proposing the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in Odisha.
As per the CMO, the two prominent health schemes i.e.Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will be providing benefits to over 1.03 crore families in the state and more than 3.46 crore people individually. Both schemes will be co-branded in Odisha. The beneficiaries of both schemes will get a card branded by both the schemes.
Each beneficiary will receive a single card for both AB-PMJAY and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, while Pradhanmantri Vaya Vandana Yojana beneficiaries will get a separate card. Under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, an estimated 67.80 lakh families will be benefited, where as about 35.84 lakh families will be benefited under Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana. At the same time elderlies above the age of 70 years will be provided the benefit of health facilities under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Reportedly, the state consists a total of 23,12,979 senior citizens above the age group of 70 years. Out of these elderlies, around 17 lakh people are getting covered under the double co- branded scheme, Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana. So only 6 lakh new beneficiaries are left. Therefore the total number of beneficiaries will come to 3.52 crore. The scheme consists the provision of the male beneficiary getting medical treatment worth up to Rs 5 lakh, whereas for the female beneficiary it is upto Rs 10 lakh. In the case of a family having a beneficiary above 70 years of age, they will get medical treatment worth up to Rs 15 lakh. Beneficiaries can avail of cashless medical treatment of over 29,000 in government and empaneled private hospitals across the country.
The meeting was held comprising of the Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of Information and Public Relations Department Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of IT Department Vishal Dev, Secretary of Health Department Smt. Ms Aswathy S, and senior officials of the Health Department.
