In the official notification from the office of the chief minister, mentions that all the government led universities and colleges will be implementing NEP- 2020 from the coming academic sessions.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has reviewed and approved the introduction of the NEP-2020 for all the higher education institutions running under the department of Higher Education. The main goal of the Mohan government is to transform the educational sector.
As per the NEP guidelines the degree course structure will be of four years instead of three. The students will be awarded with Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Honours degree every year.
There has been state level credit framework prepared based on the UGC approved credit framework by which aggregate credits have been given in it. Other than that there are other opportunities for getting extra credits like skill development, internship, community service, extra curricular activities, N.C.C. NSS etc.
The students will have many options to chose their favourite subjects, have the extended time period to complete the course within 7 years taking voluntary entry and exits to the higher education institutions.
The implementation of NEP will bring about a rich, autonomous, qualitative and inclusive transformation in our education system. It aims to develop research and innovation, schemes for practical education, learning, skill development, through various opportunities like internship in industries.
A new set of syllabus has been framed for about 40 subjects for undergraduate courses, 112 multidisciplinary courses, 14 vocational courses, 56 value-added courses and 84 skill enhancement courses. The new curriculum is set aiming to fulfill the job requirements and industry needs.
All the universities , higher education institutions, and affiliated colleges will be implementing NEP 2020, by following the new syllabus and credit framework.
