Odisha CM sanctioned Rs 385cr COVID-19 Assistance For 26 Lakh Construction Workers

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik released Rs. 385 crores as a COVID – 19 assistance for the 26 lakh construction workers in the State. According to an official press release of the Government , every construction worker will get an assistance of Rs 1,500 under this scheme.

Likewise, the state government had provided an amount of Rs 1,500 to each and every construction worker in the state during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

Chief Minister expressed view in this regard during the video conference where the construction workers belonging to 314 blocks of the state jave also participated.  He described the construction workers as “Biswakarmas” who sacrifice their happiness for the comfort of others happiness. No one can take aways the rights of the poor from them. They have every right to live with dignity.

“They create big buildings and houses for others in the scorching heat of the Sun while they themselves live in harsh and difficult conditions. They leave a vital mark on every step of a nation’s progress and their story of the sacrifice and hard work is undeniable.

The chief minister further added that the financial assistance would help to mitigate the distressful condition of the construction workers that has been doubly aggravated with effect to the pandemic situation.

Naveen Patnaik had earlier announced financial assistance and packages for COVID-19 for landless farmers, dairy farmers, street vendors, and other poor people.
