Odisha Experienced Snowfall in various districts of Odisha as mercury dropped the Lowest as 3°C- 5 C

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has experienced snowfall in certain places of Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj on 15 December morning as the temperature was dipping minus 3 degrees Celsius. There was a layer of snow seen in open fields, vehicles parked outside and trees in many parts of the Koida, Sundergarh. This extreme frosting of weather was primarily seen in Tensa, Kalta, Malda, Koida headquarters, Kasira area due to a sudden temperature has dropped in these areas.

IMD has issued  an yellow warning for severe cold wave for Sundergarh district. There has been a very extreme cold condition in Mayurbhanj with the temperature went below 3 degrees Celsius for the past three days. Especially , Similipal is experiencing the lowest bone-chilling cold and heavy frosting.

Jharsuguda districts has also got a cold wave alert as there is going to be no change in minimum temperature in the coming days.

According to the reports by IMD, G. Udayagiri was the coldest place with minimum temperature of 5.2°C at night. Meanwhile, Semiliguda and Phulbani recorded a temperature of 9°C individually. Mercury has also dropped at other places including Rourkela (7.2°C), Kirei (8.8°C), and Daringbadi (10°C).

Meanwhile, the cold wave has hit the normalcy of the lifestyle of the common people. People like daily workers, office goers, students, elderlies etc are facing difficulties in this severity of cold. At the same time tourists from different parts are flocking to various picnic places to celebrate Christmas, and to give farewell to the year.
