The Foreign Minister Speaks on India’s Position International Forum

In the last 5-6 years, the way India a grown and gained recognition in the global platform, the impact is shown in our daily life. Due to globalization, the profile of a foreign affairs minister has come to the radar, and the second factor is the advancement of technology, the reach of social media has made everything so accessible and visible.

Earlier it used to be the picture of a popular political leader who was addressing a huge mass of population or gathering, which is still a reality as well. But now there is a change of pace everything is more critical, retaliation, and responsive.

The present scenario shows there is pride in the country progressing to the 5th number on the global platform. The people are in the mood to be aware, strong-willed, and resilient, so it needs the leaders to be suitably transparent and honest. The new India believes in retaliation, showing power when required to protect the country.

Most of the foreign ministers all over the world are from the field of diplomacy. So there is a common camaraderie between each. But the media especially the Western media feels whatever they publish is the ultimate fact. Now certainly, India is in such a position where it can put forth its conditions assertively. The working process of Prime Minister Modi is very consultative.

The temperament of India is that it will give answers to whoever tries to harm the safety, and security of the country, be it terrorism, any neighbor dispute, and so on. The message has to be conveyed that India will not sit silently if there its safety and harmony are attracted.

No country wants to keep enmity with the neighbors but if the neighbor violates the 30-year-old conciliations and puts pressure against it will get an answer from India. At the same time, neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka have gained help, benefits and support when they needed the most. When Sri Lanka drowned in economic dearth, there was no food, electricity, or patrol for the common life to retain, then it was India who held their hands by providing them urgent, required help. During the time of COVID, India supplied medicines, vaccines, and PP kits to the neighborhood, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The previous government had declared China as our strategic partner. It was astonishing because China is the country which is claiming our land and can not be our strategic partner. The government then in India wanted to make a deal of free trade with China which was not favorable for our country. The border infrastructure was neglected by the previous government. There was a budget allocation of  3, 000 crores for border infrastructure in the previous government whereas, in the present government, it is 15,000 crores. The Congress government lacked self-confidence, was neglected the border safety matter, and the mindset of the government was the factor for the border situation then with China.

Now the situation in India is that it is getting powerful, and positions itself with conviction and confidence internationally. Some countries are unhappy with the fact that India is run by a nationalist government. So it is not ready to go with their set of models, its comfort level does not gel with the nationalist ideology of this nationalist  India. It is part of the culture that the countries compete with each other, but certain countries want India to grow and develop because the countries with democratic values will get an overall benefit from it. So there are a few arguments on this matter but rather these speculations are more prevalent in the field of media. The Western media as well as the countries are playing the role of an opposition.
