ANDHRA PRADESH ON COVID-19 ALERT AFTER 2 DEATHS, 8 ACTIVE CASES

Bhubaneswar: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a statewide COVID-19 alert after two recent deaths and the detection of eight active cases, mainly in YSR Kadapa and Annamayya districts.

One patient from Rajampeta in Annamayya district died on July 7, while the second fatality was reported from Kadapa. In response, health authorities have resumed COVID-19 screening at government hospitals, stepped up surveillance, intensified contact tracing and enhanced hospital preparedness.

Officials said sporadic COVID-19 cases are expected and urged the public not to panic. Samples have been sent for genome sequencing to identify the circulating variant, while authorities continue to monitor possible local transmission. Four patients have recovered and been discharged in the past 24 hours, according to the state dashboard.

The Health Department has advised people to remain vigilant, follow basic preventive measures, get tested if they develop symptoms and cooperate with health officials as the situation continues to be closely monitored.
