Bhubaneswar: Devotees and relatives of those affected by the devastating flash floods offered prayers at the Mahakaal Shani Bhagwan Temple on the occasion of Sawan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.
The prayers were held amid grief following a devastating natural disaster in central Nepal. An ice-rock avalanche triggered by a glacial collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border sent a powerful torrent of water, mud and debris downstream on Wednesday.
The flash floods caused widespread destruction across towns and villages, washing away homes, vehicles, roads and bridges and damaging hydropower projects.
Families and devotees gathered at the temple to offer prayers and seek strength for those affected by the disaster, while rescue and relief efforts continue in the affected areas.
