Bhubaneswar: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, informed that a total number of 15, 155 students have registered for the Class 10 offline examinations scheduled to be conducted from 39 July till 5 August.
The students have been notified to do the form fill up for the examination from 5 – 14 July. The process was done virtually and no fees for the application were charged from the students.
From the total number of 15,155 students, around 6,596 students have applied to appear for annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination, a total of 8,493 for State Open School certificate examination and 66 for Madhyama examination, according to a data by the BSE.
Out of the 6,596 students applied for appearing the annual HSC exams, 2,244 students were unhappy with the marking method adopted by the BSE. The alternative assessment method was adopted by the BSE in order to announce the final result of the matriculation examinations which had been cancelled owing to the outbreak of second wave of COVID Pandemic.
It is to be mentioned that the board had earlier assessed and announced the Class 10, 2021 results by adopting the alternative assessment method on 25 June. However, following the result getting published the students and their parents questioned the method of assessment procedure and called it faulty. Therefore the BSE later announced that students who are not satisfied with their marks awarded to them, can certainly apply for an an offline examination the matriculation.
The BSE also informed that the score secured by the students in the offline examination shall be considered as the final results.
It is to be noted that the pass percentage for this year came out as 97.89 percent which is almost 20 percent higher than the previous year’s result which was 78.76 percent.
Out of the total number of 5,74,125 students applied for writing the Matriculation examination, as many as 5,62,010 were declared pass by the BSE.
