Bhubaneswar: Government of Odisha has established a ‘state-model’ of IBM and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education for female students in 258 schools across the state. The IBM-STEM state model aims to enhance females’ capability in digital literacy, job choice, and life skills.
According to a report published by the Chief Minister’s office, the IBM-STEM approach would help increase instructors’ skills, resulting in improved learning results for pupils. According to sources, these 258 schools in Odisha would serve as skill learning centres and serve as role models for other schools’ state. As per the Chief Minister’s Office social media platform, “the State-model of the IBM STEM for Girls Programme has been started in 258 schools to improve the capacity of girls in digital fluency, job choice, and life skills.” “It will also boost instructors’ skills for better learning outcomes among students,” the social media post continued”.
According to the sources, IBM and its partners will also collaborate closely to develop educational leadership at the school, district, and state levels. “Develop a pool of master trainers to guide teacher capacity-building initiatives, as well as integrating the state curriculum with National Education Policies (NEP), with a focus on developing 21st-century skills among learners,” it said. As schools in the state remain closed due to the ongoing Covid epidemic, instructors may design programs to engage pupils digitally on the curriculum of self, gender, profession, and computational thinking using this IBM-STEM approach.
These will guarantee that the female pupils develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. According to the report, it will also inspire female students to pursue STEM Pathways when they pursue further education and a profession.
