The Importance of Political Slogans in an Electoral Politics

The political slogans for the elections like the BJP have set and called for ‘ Ab ki baar 400 par’, though it seems unrealistic not impossible target or slogan. In any election, it is necessary to set an agenda for every political party to pass the message. So the slogans are nothing but the message to communicate the narrative of the party, to the people and the voters.

The 2024 Lok Sabha election will be decided according to the performance of the government. If a public representative does not resonate with the issues, problems, and needs of the people at the same time can’t take it to the right forum and later deliver on it, it does not make any point. The subject that’s more impactful to the lives of the people, works the right way. People decide their representatives as per the saying and doing, / performing strategy. The number of votes comes to the machine, the 2/3 of the voter turnout, most of their lives are dependent on the government of the day. So they elect and select their government or leader very carefully because their livelihood is dependent on them such as road, electricity, PDS, etc. Most people vote based on how it affects their daily lives.

Brand Modi is largely a performing man, a man who resonates very well with the masses, understands the pulse of the common man, and works relentlessly, only for the people. These are the phenomena which make people think that he is the leader and the head of their families. The empowerment of women by delivering various major necessities for them such as pumped water, cooking gas, housing, and bank accounts on the bane of women has been a major drive in the Modi government. The changes that have arrived during the tenure of the Narendra Modi government due to the scale and speed of the delivery system are commendable.

There are three main factors in any election i.e. promise, commitment and intention. When a voter goes to cast his vote he keeps this in mind about his issues, the problems faced by the community, then the nation. After the ruling party and the opposition spell out their promise and commitments, the voter intends his decision on who to vote. There are several problems but the matter is who a more suitable for resolving them.

The role of opposition in the election is to showcase a roadmap to promise people what can they do if come to power. Every opposition needs to have a potential leader who can work as a magnet. In today’s time congress as an opposition is missing out on the legacy of past performance, as well as the present backing of a credible leader. Even if the congress has a positive performance in the past, they are not showcasing it in their favour. Another major setback for the Congress party is that it is run by the old ideology, and thought process of the family legacy system. Now that the thinking of people has changed long back it can or be possible to function and gather a view bank only based on the notion that only a king’s son will take the throne. The process of decision-making has to change from the family authority to the democrats. The decision-making process has to be more towards the people, their lives and betterment, without being biased towards one particular vested interest of a family legacy.

Now we are living in an era of fast information. Everybody is well-informed and aware of who is responsible for what condition. So the narratives of any political party be it the ruling party or opposition can be brain with the voters without evident factors.
