As per the studies, in last couple of years there has been a huge rise in the detection of breast cancer amongst the young women in India. India is accounted for about 10-20 percent of breast cancer patients in the whole world. This type of cancer is increasing factored by rapid growth of urbanization and changing lifestyle.
As women are the victims of this virus, it is symbolized by the pink ribbon in the 1991. Now this symbol of pink ribbon is recognized world wide as the official symbol for breast cancer awareness. The month of October is known as the breast cancer awareness month every year. This has been celebrated to promote the diagnosis, scan and prevention of the disease that affects about 2.3 million women across the world. The theme for World Breast Cancer day 2024 has set with the slogan that is ‘ No one should face Breast Cancer alone’. The theme is focusing upon patient centered treatment, along with medical, emotional, psychological and social support through the patient navigation system.
Most of the women in India get detected with breast cancer at an advanced stage because of dearth of awareness, lack of medical facilities, poor treatment conditions, social stigma, as compared to the other western countries. Studies indicate that there are high chances of reducing the risk of breast cancer with the help of certain lifestyle changes like balanced diet, leading a alcohol and tobacco free lifestyle, regular exercise and yoga to prevent obesity, weight management by proper diet and exercise is very much needed. So should be educated and empowered with proper knowledge and awareness regarding the prevention and cure of the life threatening disease.
