Bhubaneswar: AMRI Asian Cancer Institute, AMRI Hospitals, Bhubaneswar, observed World No Tabacco Day 2017. Over the last one year, AMRI Asian Cancer Institute has been providing latest cancer care services to the people of Odisha.
Around 20 Cancer disease survivors shared their experiences in the awareness event by AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar. Tobacco in various forms has been found to be the main cause behind the growing cases of oral and head / neck cancer. On this World No Tobacco Day, it has been the endeavor of AMRI Asian Cancer Institute Bhubaneswar to undertake such awareness programme and spread this year’s theme message of “TABACCO THREATEN US ALL”.
Speaking on the occasion after being felicitated for her excellent work in the social sphere Padmashree Tulasi Munda expressed her concern about the growing consumption of tobacco and appealed to everybody to disassociate from the use of tobacco. The ill-effect of Tobacco can only be eliminated by saying No to any form of Tobacco.
Mrs. Subhashree Das – Social activist said, “Habit of taking tobacco is deep rooted in our society and we need to eliminate this habit and spread the message across all sections of the society.”
Adm Salil Kumar Mohanty, Vice President, Unit Head, AMRI Hospitals, Bhubaneswar said “AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar has been pioneering such initiative for the social cause. We are honoured to have so many luminaries on this occasion.”
Dr. Dhairyasheel Savant, Consultant Head & Neck Surgical Oncology, Asian Cancer Institute, Mumbai said, “Tobacco related cancers are very difficult to treat and the best way is to prevent it by avoiding tobacco in any form.”
