Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at optimising urban infrastructure and boosting commercial activity, IT companies will soon begin operations from the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal (BSABT) at Baramunda in Bhubaneswar.
The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has decided to rent out space on two floors of the terminal to IT firms, transforming the facility into a transport-cum-business hub. Officials said the initiative reflects a unique integration of public transport infrastructure with modern service and technology sectors.
The presence of IT companies is expected to significantly increase footfall and round-the-clock activity at the terminal, creating spillover benefits for local vendors and service providers. To support this, vendors operating within the complex have been allotted air-conditioned commercial spaces, enhancing the overall commuter experience.
BSABT, the largest bus terminal in Odisha, currently handles over 1,500 buses and nearly 20,000 passengers ежедневно, making it a critical transit point in the state. Authorities believe the addition of IT offices will improve the terminal’s commercial viability while promoting efficient use of public assets.
