Bhubaneswar: Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar is in no hurry to fast-track Don 3 and has instead turned his attention back to Jee Le Zaraa, the road-trip drama that was announced in 2021 but later stalled.
According to sources, fresh discussions are currently underway with the film’s leading ladies to revive the project, which is being developed under the Excel Entertainment banner. Scheduling conflicts and individual commitments had earlier delayed the film, but Farhan is now keen to realign dates and move the project forward.
Jee Le Zaraa had generated significant buzz for bringing together three prominent female stars in a friendship-centric narrative—an approach reminiscent of Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, but with women at the centre.
Meanwhile, Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh, remains in the development stage. Farhan is reportedly taking a measured approach to the franchise reboot, ensuring the script and scale meet expectations before going on floors.
For now, reviving Jee Le Zaraa appears to be the immediate creative priority, signalling Farhan Akhtar’s focus on storytelling over rushing big-ticket franchises.
