Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana, a new initiative aimed at expanding skill development and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (divyangjan).
The scheme will focus on targeted training programmes, workplace inclusion, and creation of dignified livelihood opportunities, enabling divyangjan to participate more actively in the workforce. The initiative seeks to enhance employability, promote economic independence, and support long-term integration into the formal economy.
According to the Budget announcement, the programme will align skill development with market demand and encourage employers to adopt inclusive hiring practices. It is also expected to strengthen institutional support systems for training and placement of persons with disabilities.
The Divyangjan Kaushal Yojana reflects the government’s broader emphasis on inclusive growth, ensuring that economic expansion creates opportunities across all sections of society.
