Odisha to Set Up Five New Medical Colleges to Boost Alternative Healthcare

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced plans to establish five new medical colleges, including three Ayurvedic and two Homoeopathic institutions, as part of its strategy to expand healthcare education and services across the state.

Land identification for the proposed colleges is currently underway in Gajapati, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nayagarh, and Nuapada.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda and Homoeopathy, while also improving access to healthcare education in underserved regions. Officials indicated that administrative approval for the project will be granted after the completion of land identification and preparation of detailed cost reports.

The move is expected to enhance the state’s healthcare infrastructure and promote alternative medicine practices alongside conventional medical systems.
