BHUBANESWAR: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the temporary cancellation of the Puri-Rourkela Express and Rourkela-Puri Express on selected dates in May 2026 due to safety-related modernisation and maintenance work.
According to railway officials, the work is being carried out in the Sambalpur–Maneswar section as part of infrastructure strengthening and operational safety improvements.
As a result, Train No. 18126 Puri–Rourkela Express and Train No. 18125 Rourkela–Puri Express will remain cancelled on specified dates during the maintenance period.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to verify train schedules and operational status through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and official railway enquiry services before commencing their journey.
Officials said the temporary disruption is necessary to facilitate critical track and system upgrades aimed at ensuring safer and more efficient rail operations in the region.
