Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on May 15 announced that the re-examination for NEET-UG 2026 will be conducted on June 21 following the cancellation of the earlier examination held on May 3.
The original examination was scrapped after authorities confirmed a paper leak, triggering nationwide concern over the integrity of the medical entrance examination process.
The minister stated that all students who had registered for the cancelled examination would receive a complete refund of their original application fees. No additional fee will be charged for appearing in the re-test.
Officials also announced that the duration of the re-examination has been extended by 15 minutes to provide additional time to candidates.
The government said measures are being taken to strengthen examination security and ensure transparency in the conduct of the re-exam.
The development comes amid intense scrutiny of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and growing demands for reforms in national-level entrance examination systems following the paper leak controversy.
