AIU Suspends Al-Falah University’s Membership Amid Red Fort Blast Probe

Bhubaneswar: The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has suspended the membership of Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, with immediate effect, following its alleged link to individuals involved in the Delhi Red Fort car blast on November 10.

The decision, conveyed through an official AIU letter dated November 13, 2025, cites “media reports” and states that the institution “does not appear to be in good standing” as per AIU’s bylaws.

The move comes after the university was thrust into national controversy when it was revealed that Dr. Umar Un Nabi, the key suspect in the deadly blast, was a faculty member at Al-Falah University. Other accused — Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed — were also reportedly associated with the same institution.

Following the suspension, Al-Falah University has been barred from using the AIU name or logo in any of its materials, events, or communications. The university has been directed to immediately remove the AIU insignia from its official website and other platforms.

In a related development, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) issued a show-cause notice to the Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology for falsely claiming NAAC accreditation for its affiliated colleges.

Located in Faridabad’s Dhauj area, about 27 km from Delhi, Al-Falah University has become the center of national scrutiny after investigators linked several of its faculty members to the “white-collar terror” module allegedly responsible for the Red Fort explosion that killed 12 people and injured several others.
