Bhubaneswar: AMRI Hospital ,Bhubaneswar organized the 11th Annual Conference of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologist (Odisha Chapter) on 5th November 2017 at Panthanivas ,Bhubaneswar. Present on the occasion were Dr. (Lt. Col.) Vivek Lal, M.D., Ph.D., Vice President & Unit Head, AMRI Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Bibhudutta Rautaraya, Organizing Secretary, & Dr. Shreekant Tiwari, Academic Secretary IAMM Odisha Chapter. Over the last 4 years, AMRI Hospitals has been providing the best clinical cum diagnostic services to the people of Odisha.
Around 200 leading micriobiologists and Infection control officers of the region and neighboring States participated in the Conference. A comprehensive brainstorming was done on antimicrobial resistance and other areas related to pathogenic microbes and how to tackle them. Many novel research areas were mooted. which are an essential as far as the medical science is concerned. The microbiologists discussed appropriate use of Antibiotics in hospitals so also in the society in general to prevent drug resistance of these bugs and to use antibiotics and other antimicrobial drugs judiciously.

There is a need of robust hospital infection control system to decrease the infections and use of antibiotics. At AMRI Hospitals, we are trying our best to restrict use of higher end antibiotics mostly in ICU to reduce drug resistance as well as to decrease cost of treatment as antibiotics take a major chunk of pharmacy expenses.”
