Bhubaneswar: Amid reports of Pakistan considering a boycott of its match against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president and Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said the Indian board would respond only after consultations with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
“ICC has issued a big statement and spoken about sportsmanship. We completely agree with the ICC,” Shukla said. “BCCI will not make any comments on this matter until we speak with the ICC.”
The ICC had earlier reiterated its commitment to maintaining the spirit of the game and ensuring that international tournaments are conducted in accordance with established sporting principles.
Shukla’s remarks indicate that the BCCI is adopting a cautious and measured approach, deferring any official position until formal discussions are held with the global governing body.
The India–Pakistan fixture remains one of the most high-profile matches in international cricket, and any disruption could have significant sporting and commercial implications for the tournament.
