Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar authorities have imposed strict traffic and safety restrictions around PMG Square and Mahatma Gandhi Marg in view of the state-level Republic Day parade and its rehearsal sessions. The measures are aimed at ensuring smooth conduct of events and maintaining public safety.
According to the Commissionerate Police, traffic restrictions will be in force on January 22 and 23 from 1 pm to 6 pm during rehearsal sessions. On the main event days—January 24 to 26—restrictions will begin from 6 am and remain in place until the conclusion of the parade.
As part of the advisory, vehicular movement on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and adjoining lanes will be completely prohibited during restricted hours. Only pedestrians will be allowed to access the stretch near PMG Square. In addition, the sale of gas balloons has been banned from PMG Square to Master Canteen Square from 6 am on January 26 until the parade ends, as a precautionary safety measure.
To facilitate visitors and participants, the city police have identified seven designated parking locations at different points across Bhubaneswar. Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes, follow traffic advisories, and cooperate with police personnel deployed on duty.
Officials stated that the arrangements are part of comprehensive security and traffic management planning to ensure that the Republic Day celebrations are conducted in an orderly and incident-free manner.
