Bhubaneswar: The death of FM College student, Soumyashee is taking different twists and turns with one after another revelations by her fellow students, lecturers of the same college and the natives in Balasore. Kasish Dash, friend of Soumyashree, has stated to the media that if it is investigated that how and who had brought petrol to the college campus and gave that to Soumyashree most of the matters would be cleared. She further added that not only Soumya has been burnt, we all are burning too and will be pained until a proper investigation is not conducted and justice is not granted to Soumya.
Soumya had shared her sufferings to various mediums time and again. Yet she was trolled, blamed and her character was assassinated by other students and staffs in the college itself. We were not present there in college on the day of the unfortunate incident. So we could not accompany her to the office of the Principal as we had exams on the same day. The exam got over by 10 a.m. and we waited there till 12 noon. But until that time Principal had not called her to his office. Principal called her when had already gone home for lunch break. She was asked to provide evidence on her complaints or harassment allegations on the HOD.
If we were present there she could not have burnt herself or this incident would not have happened. Principal asked her either produce evidence or get ready for the consequence. How and from where she could get evidence? There were more than hundred students who had given applications to the Principal in support of the HOD and also around 300 students were supporting HOD. If these number of students had supported Soumyashree then, the HOD might have been removed, justice could be granted to Soumyashree and she would have been here, alive with us. Those who were trolling her, passing nasty comments on her character when she was suffering, now are shouting on the road justice for her. This hypocrisy and sheer politics, but nothing else.
The matter was taken a political turn because Soumyashree was a worker of ABVP along with Kanika, as per Kanika’s statement. Thre were only 10-12 girls supporting her whereas 100-200 students from her own college were supporting the HOD then. According to her friends, Soumyashree burnt herself after a long humiliation, sufferings and character assassination. There were social media trolling, her own class mates were alleging her of lying to get marks and attendance in class.
