ECoR Announces Special Trains Between Berhampur and Puri for Kartik Purnima Rush

Bhubaneswar: To handle the anticipated surge of passengers during the Kartik Purnima celebrations, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced special train services between Berhampur (Brahmapur) and Puri, aimed at facilitating devotees travelling to the holy town for Boita Bandana and other rituals associated with the auspicious full moon day.

According to an official release, one special train will depart from Berhampur at 8:35 p.m. today (November 4) and reach Puri at 1:30 a.m. the next day. The return train will depart from Puri at 3:00 a.m. and arrive in Berhampur at 7:15 a.m. on November 5, ensuring smooth travel for devotees participating in late-night and early-morning observances.

In addition, another special service has been scheduled to leave Puri at 5:00 a.m. and reach Berhampur at 9:30 a.m. on the same day, catering to pilgrims returning after the early morning rituals along the Puri seashore.

ECoR officials have advised passengers to plan their travel in advance and follow station announcements for detailed information on timings and ticketing. Additional staff and crowd-control arrangements have been deployed at major stations to ensure safe and hassle-free travel.

The Kartik Purnima festival, which celebrates Odisha’s maritime glory and religious devotion, attracts thousands of devotees to Puri every year for the symbolic Boita Bandana ritual, where miniature boats are floated on water bodies in remembrance of ancient seafarers.
