Bhubaneswar: Delegates attending the International Election Visitors’ Programme 2026, organised by the Election Commission of India, undertook field visits to polling stations and EVM dispatch centres across multiple regions, including Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry.
Observers from countries such as Samoa, Albania, Sierra Leone, and Georgia interacted with election officials on the ground, gaining insights into India’s electoral processes and infrastructure.
The visits focused on key operational aspects including logistics management, staffing arrangements, voter facilitation, and accessibility measures. Delegates closely examined the handling and dispatch mechanisms of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), a cornerstone of India’s election system.
The programme comes ahead of the upcoming Kerala Legislative Assembly Elections and other regional polls, offering international participants a first-hand understanding of the scale and complexity of conducting elections in the world’s largest democracy.
Officials said the initiative reflects India’s commitment to transparency and knowledge-sharing in electoral management, while also strengthening global cooperation in democratic practices.
