Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has released a notice on Tuesday, announcing the complete ban on new year’s celebrations or any such functions relating to bringing in the New Year 2022.
The public gatherings in places like hotels, restaurants, clubs, parks, convention halls and Kalyan Mandaps for Zero Night Celebration/ Welcome to New Year and similar other functions on December 31, 2021, and January 1, 2022, shall be forbidden across the State.
During this time it is usually seen that people plan to gather in big numbers at various places to celebrate the New Year. Especially, on 31 December and 1 January, a high number of the congregation happen in hotels, parks, restaurants, clubs, and other tourist or picnic spots to welcome another year. All these public gatherings become a major factor for spreading Covid -19 virus among the mass.
As per the government order, all picnic spots and feasts in general public places shall also be prohibited. Other than that community feasts shall not be allowed either on this occasion. People are precisely notified to celebrate new year’s eve privately at home, avoid unnecessary public gatherings, and follow the required Covid -19 guidelines, as stated by the SRC. The SRC further states about cracking gire works, “people can use green crackers in this celebration keeping the protocol in mind and obeying proper safety and avoiding it in public places”.
