Bhubaneswar: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Saturday cautioned that India’s historical decline stemmed not from aggression but from a failure to adequately safeguard its security, urging young leaders to remain constantly vigilant to protect the nation’s sovereignty and future.
Speaking at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue at Bharat Mandapam, Doval addressed over 3,000 young change-makers from across the country. He recalled that India was once a highly advanced civilisation but suffered repeated setbacks because security threats were underestimated, even though the nation never sought to attack others.
Emphasising the importance of national preparedness, Doval said that nationhood cannot be taken for granted and must be protected through sustained awareness and responsibility on a daily basis. He underlined that economic progress and social development are inseparable from strong internal and external security.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Doval said India is now on a determined path towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, but added that this journey requires alertness and collective commitment, particularly from the youth.
The multi-day dialogue, being held from January 10 to 12, is designed as a platform for young leaders to present ideas and policy visions for a “Viksit Bharat.” The event will also feature addresses by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to conclude the dialogue on National Youth Day, reinforcing the central role of India’s youth in shaping the country’s future.
The dialogue is being seen as a key initiative to connect national aspirations with youth-led innovation, leadership and responsibility, particularly in the context of India’s long-term developmental goals.
