More than 400 people participated in the WALK-A-THON to mark the
occasion of World Heart Day and make people aware of heart-related
diseases.
Bhubaneswar, October 3, 2024: KALINGA Hospital Ltd. (KHL) Bhubaneswar,
a `leading healthcare provider of Odisha observed WALK-A-THON to mark the
occasion of World Heart Day and to emphasizing the importance of heart health and
preventive care. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 400
people, including medical professionals, hospital staff, and local citizens, all coming
together to raise awareness about cardiovascular health.
The Walkathon commenced at 6:00 AM from the hospital premises, led by doctors,
healthcare workers, and community leaders. The participants walked a 5-kilometer
route, promoting the message of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular
exercise, a balanced diet, and regular health check-ups.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sitakantha Dash, Chairman of Kalinga Hospital Ltd.,
said, “Heart disease continues to be one of the leading causes of death globally, and
events like these are crucial in creating awareness about prevention. Walking, along
with other healthy habits, can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease.”

Dr. Sushanta Ku. Patra discussed with the participants about the heart health. Cardiac
problems among youth are treatable with diagnosis as well as care. The statement
said that detection on time and arriving at a hospital could help in restoring the
functioning of the heart properly. However, the easiest way to prevent heart ailments
is by being physically active and avoiding food that could trigger obesity, high BP or
diabetes.
