‘Left Zone Free’ Drive Launched to Ease Emergency Movement in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate has launched a new traffic initiative titled ‘Left Zone Free’ in Bhubaneswar to ensure faster movement of ambulances and other emergency vehicles through the city’s busy roads.

The campaign was rolled out at 40 traffic posts across the capital, where motorists are being urged to keep the left lane clear at all times. The implementation of the initiative was reviewed by Additional Police Commissioner Narasingha Bhol.

Under the drive, the left lane is meant to remain unobstructed so that ambulances, school buses and other emergency service vehicles can move without delay. Traffic officials noted that vehicles occupying the left lane often slow down emergency response, which can prove critical in life-saving situations.

As part of the initiative, traffic police personnel are conducting awareness campaigns and interacting with commuters to encourage better lane discipline. Authorities have also proposed installing bollards at key junctions to prevent vehicles from blocking the designated lane.

Police officials stressed that public cooperation will be crucial for the success of the campaign, which aims to strengthen traffic management and ensure timely emergency response in the rapidly growing city.
