Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is developing over the Bay of Bengal in January, an unusual but significant weather event, which is likely to impact Odisha’s weather conditions in the coming days.
According to weather indicators, Odisha is expected to receive rainfall from January 10 onwards, with coastal districts and parts of north Odisha likely to experience moderate showers. The system is also expected to influence temperature patterns across the state.
Meteorological assessments suggest that this development will intensify the prevailing cold wave conditions. Cold wave conditions are predicted to persist across several parts of Odisha between January 9 and January 12, as the combination of cloud cover, rainfall and cold northerly winds may lead to a further drop in night temperatures.
The India Meteorological Department is closely monitoring the system and is expected to issue detailed district-wise forecasts and advisories as the system evolves. Residents, particularly in coastal and northern districts, have been advised to stay alert to changing weather conditions during this period.
