Bhubaneswar: Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. has announced the acquisition of a 58.4% stake in Kalinga Hospital for ₹300 crore, marking its strategic entry into eastern India’s healthcare sector.
Located in Bhubaneswar, the 250-bed NABH-accredited facility is spread across a 10-acre campus and provides advanced medical services across key specialities including cardiology, neurology, oncology, and orthopaedics.
The acquisition is in line with Max Healthcare’s broader expansion strategy focused on high-growth, non-metro regions. Chairman Abhay Soi highlighted Bhubaneswar as an “extremely attractive market,” citing its rapid urbanisation, improving infrastructure, and rising demand for quality healthcare.
With this move, the company aims to strengthen its presence in eastern India by upgrading infrastructure, enhancing clinical capabilities, and expanding access to advanced medical care. The deal positions Max Healthcare as a significant player in the region’s evolving healthcare ecosystem.
Further integration plans and operational upgrades are expected to be rolled out in the coming months.
