Bhubaneswar: As India prepares to commemorate its 77th Republic Day in 2026, the Ministry of Defence, in partnership with My Bharat, has invited citizens across the country to take part in a series of national online contests and creative activities aimed at celebrating India’s constitutional legacy and democratic spirit.
The initiatives are designed to ignite curiosity, inspire creativity and deepen public appreciation of India’s heritage and journey as a nation. Special focus has been placed on encouraging participation from students, youth and creative minds, offering them a platform to express patriotism through multiple forms of artistic and intellectual expression.
Republic Day marks the historic moment when the Constitution of India came into force on January 26, 1950, transforming the country into the world’s largest democracy. Officials said the contests are intended not just as celebratory events, but as a reminder of the ideals of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity that continue to guide the nation.
“Republic Day is more than a celebration—it is a tribute to our constitutional values and a moment to reflect on how far we have come as a people,” an official statement said. “Through these competitions, citizens are encouraged to share their vision for a stronger, united and progressive India.”
Participants will be able to express their patriotism in words, colours and music, using creative formats that resonate with younger generations and digital audiences. The initiative aligns with the government’s broader effort to make national celebrations more participatory and inclusive through online platforms.
With the call of “Express your patriotism in words. Bring it alive in colours. Feel it through music,” the Ministry and My Bharat aim to turn Republic Day 2026 into a nationwide creative movement—one that celebrates India’s past, engages its present, and envisions its future.
