Bhubaneswar: Mithun Chakraborty has recieved the highest film honour of India, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in a ceremony at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on 8 October. The ceremony was held to honour the awardees who got national awards in the 70th National Awards function. The function was chaired and the wards were presented by the honourable President Mrs Draupadi Murmu. Mithun Chakraborty has recieved this great honour for his lifetime contribution to the Film Industry . He is well appreciated for his outstanding work in some of the films like Agneepath, Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye, Hum Se Hai Zamana, Pasand Apni Apni, Ghar Ek Mandir and Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki to list out a few.
Mithun has stated by showing his joy that all his hard work and struggles have been paid off by the almighty. He is only thankful and grateful for this honour. Among the other recipients of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award before, particularly from the showbizz are Amitabh Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman, Rekha, Asha Parekh and Rajnikanth.
Mr. Chakraborty was announced as the Padma Bhushan Award, the third highest civilian honour earlier this year. Mithun Chakraborty had made his debut in the film Mrigayaa in 1976. His performance in the film bagged him his first national award for best actor. Later in his career, he had received two more National Film Awards for his performance in Tahader Katha (1992) and Swami Vivekananda (1998). He last appeared in The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri.
