Nathdwara’s Madan Paliwal Miraj Sports Centre Emerges as Landmark Cricket–Hospitality Project

Bhubaneswar: The Madan Paliwal Miraj Sports Centre in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, has emerged as one of India’s most ambitious sports infrastructure projects, combining a 35,000-seat international-standard cricket stadium with an integrated luxury hospitality complex.

Developed by the Miraj Group, the venue features 234 Radisson Blu hotel rooms, around 75 per cent of which offer direct views of the cricket pitch. The complex includes infinity pools, spa-style wellness facilities, and premium spectator amenities, set against the backdrop of Nathdwara’s surrounding hills.

According to the developers, the project is designed to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, international fixtures, and large-scale sporting and entertainment events. The stadium will require formal approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including certification of the pitch, outfield, and supporting infrastructure, before being cleared for top-tier matches.

Reactions and Debate

Cricket fans and infrastructure observers have welcomed the project as a symbol of India’s rapidly expanding sports and event infrastructure, particularly in non-metro regions. Supporters say the stadium reflects global trends where sports venues are increasingly integrated with hospitality, tourism, and entertainment to improve financial sustainability.

However, some critics have questioned the luxury-centric design, arguing that iconic cricket grounds such as Lord’s or the Melbourne Cricket Ground derive their character from tradition and spectator atmosphere rather than premium hospitality. They caution that excessive focus on luxury could shift attention away from accessibility and grassroots engagement.

Despite the debate, the Nathdwara project is being seen as a significant addition to India’s sporting landscape, highlighting the growing role of private investment in developing world-class sports infrastructure.
