Bhubaneswar: National Energy Conservation Day 2025 was observed on December 14 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, underscoring India’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable development. The event was marked by the presentation of the National Energy Conservation Awards and prizes for the National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation.
The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, graced the occasion and felicitated the award winners, recognising outstanding contributions by industries, institutions and individuals towards promoting energy conservation and efficient energy use across the country.
The National Energy Conservation Awards honour organisations that have demonstrated exemplary performance in reducing energy consumption and adopting innovative, energy-efficient practices. The painting competition, aimed at engaging young minds, highlighted the role of awareness and behavioural change in achieving long-term sustainability goals.
Addressing the gathering, speakers emphasised the importance of energy conservation in India’s journey towards climate resilience, reduced carbon footprint and energy security. The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, students and experts, reinforcing the message that energy efficiency is a collective responsibility.
National Energy Conservation Day is observed annually to commemorate the establishment of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and to encourage nationwide participation in conserving energy for a sustainable future.
