New Delhi: A 23-year- old woman was shot dead at Shatabdi Rail Vihar residential society inSector 62 of Noida on Wednesday morning. The woman identified as Anjali Rathour was working as a trainee engineer with a mobile manufacturing company in Sector 64 of Noida. Anjali hailed from Jagadhri near Yamuna Nagar in Haryana. She graduated from Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar in 2016.
The incident took place at 6.34 am in the parking lot of the society. The CCTV camera installed near the elevators captured the scene, but the man has not been identified due to the hazy footage & quot;We are probing the matter from all angles. There is 99.99 per cent chance that the deceased's male friend had killed her. In the footage, the shooter's picture is not clear but other electronic evidences are going against him. We have formed teams and raids are being conducted to nab him," Love Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar, told DNA.
The matter came to light when her roommate, Jyoti, noticed people crowding around an immobile body on the ground floor. Though she and four others rushed Anjali to the nearby Fortis hospital, she was declared dead on arrival.
Police said the attacker entered into the complex at 6.30 am after registering himself as Sonu in the entry register. A case of murder has been registered at the Sector 58 police station, and the body has been sent for post-mortem.
Anjali’s kin registered an FIR against Ashwani, a Lajpat Nagar resident, soon after their arrival in Noida later that afternoon. Police said Anjali had received a call from Ashwani at 6.05 am, about half an hour before the murder. However, superintendent of police (city) Arun Singh reiterated that they were yet to zero in on a suspect. “Anjali was heard quarrelling over the phone for the last one week. She came down from her apartment that morning after receiving a call from Ashwani.
But we are not (completely) certain if the assaulter was him or somebody else.” Singh said the CCTV footage shows Anjali running, and later being attacked at the parking lot. Though the assailant is seen carrying a bag, his face isn’t clearly visible. “We are probing the matter from all angles,” he added. The victim had been working with Lava for a year now, and was expected to be promoted in June. According to Kamini, her relationship with Ashwani did not extend beyond friendship.
