Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for a new Odisha Bhawan in the national capital, a project estimated to cost ₹93.27 crore.
The upcoming Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi is designed to reflect the state’s rich heritage and cultural identity. The proposed structure will include three basements, six floors, 45 suites, an exhibition area, and a modern conference hall. It will replace the existing facility, which officials described as outdated and inadequate for current requirements.
The Chief Minister said the new Bhawan will serve as a home away from home for Odia residents and visitors to the capital, while also acting as a cultural showcase for the state.
In addition to the New Delhi project, the state government has announced plans to construct new Odisha Bhawans in Ayodhya, Bengaluru, and Surat. A public shelter Bhawan is also proposed near Bhubaneswar’s Master Canteen Square to support citizens and visitors within the state.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen Odisha’s institutional presence across key cities and provide improved facilities for residents, pilgrims, and official delegations.
