Bhubaneswar: The total cases of Corona virus positives in Odisha rose to 103 with 3 more persons testing positive for the virus in Sundargarh today as per data released by the health department. Six other persons from Jajpur district had reportedly tested positive on Saturday. The recent rise in the number of positives is due to arrival of people from West Bengal. According to sources, around 44 cases with travel history to the neighbouring state or coming in contact with those who have returned from there were reported. In a relief, one more patient from Sundargarh has recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 35. Again with one deceased, the total number of active cases in the state stands at 67.
In an attempt to check the possible entry of migrants from the neighbouring state, Odisha’s border has been sealed and manned by state police. All incoming vehicles including ambulances were checked and only passage of goods vehicles carrying essentials between the states were allowed. During the 60 hours shutdown imposed earlier on Thursday by the state government in Bhadrak, Balasore and Jajapur districts, contact tracing of various Covid-19 positives and collection of swab samples of suspects was conducted in full swing.
