Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at supporting farmers, the Odisha government on Monday announced an increase of ₹69 per quintal in the procurement price of paddy for the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025–26.
The revised rate, which aligns with the state’s commitment to ensure better returns for cultivators, will apply to all paddy procured under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) framework.
Officials said the decision was taken after reviewing production costs, market trends, and farmers’ welfare priorities. The hike is expected to benefit lakhs of paddy growers across the state, particularly in major producing districts such as Bargarh, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, and Balasore.
The government has also directed procurement agencies to ensure timely payment and smooth collection of paddy from farmers through cooperative societies and mandis.
With this increase, Odisha joins several other states revising their procurement prices this season to offset rising input costs and inflation in the agricultural sector.
