Odisha Plans Comprehensive Development of Joranda Mahima Temple

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced plans for a comprehensive redevelopment of the Mahima Temple at Joranda, the principal seat of Mahima Dharma, aimed at enhancing its spiritual, cultural and tourism significance.

As part of the proposed makeover, a new grand temple will be constructed over the existing Shunya Mandir, while preserving the core philosophical and spiritual essence of Mahima Dharma. The project also includes the upgradation of key surrounding religious structures such as the Akhanda Jyoti Mandir, Bhajan Mandap and the Pushkarini (sacred water body).

In addition to religious infrastructure, the development plan предусматри modern amenities for devotees and visitors, including a dedicated kitchen, accommodation facilities, improved parking, and other essential civic infrastructure to manage large gatherings during festivals and religious events.

Officials said the project has been designed in close consultation with Mahima saints and followers to ensure that traditional values and practices are respected. The redevelopment is expected to be completed over a period of three years.

The initiative aims to strengthen Joranda’s position as a major spiritual centre, promote religious tourism, and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Mahima Dharma while integrating modern facilities for improved visitor experience.
