Bhubaneswar: In a major push to combat rising cybercrime and financial fraud, Odisha Police will establish 20 new cyber police stations across the state, officials said after a high-level review meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
The move comes amid a surge in cyber fraud, digital financial crimes, and online scams, prompting the state to adopt a technology-driven and coordinated law enforcement strategy. The upcoming cyber police stations will be equipped with modern digital infrastructure, advanced forensic tools, and trained cybercrime specialists.
Officials said personnel will receive specialised training in cyber forensics, financial analysis, and digital investigation techniques to improve detection and prosecution of cyber offenders. The police will also crack down on the misuse of anonymous bank accounts and SIM cards, track stolen mobile devices, and launch a statewide special drive against cyber criminals.
The initiative is expected to strengthen Odisha’s cyber security framework and enhance public trust in digital transactions, as online services and digital payments continue to expand across the state.
