Odisha Revenue Dept to Launch 24×7 WhatsApp Service for Land Grievances

Bhubaneswar: In a major step towards transparent and citizen-centric governance, the Odisha Revenue Department is set to launch a 24-hour WhatsApp-based service to address land-related complaints and applications, significantly reducing the need for physical visits to tehsil offices.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced that citizens will be able to submit grievances and applications directly through WhatsApp, ensuring time-bound redressal and improved accountability in revenue administration. Each complaint will be addressed within a fixed timeline, aimed at speeding up resolution and enhancing efficiency.

The minister said the digital initiative is intended to curb corruption, cut down repeated visits to government offices, and make services more accessible, especially for people in rural areas. He warned that strict action would be taken against officials if corruption complaints are received.

Pujari also said that unresolved cases could be escalated directly to him via WhatsApp, reinforcing accountability at the highest level.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the WhatsApp service on Tuesday, marking what officials describe as a significant reform in Odisha’s land governance system.

The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of citizens, streamline land administration, and strengthen public trust by leveraging digital platforms for faster and more transparent service delivery.
