Odisha State has Revised the Age of Children for Enrolling in Class One

Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has announced the set age for taking admission in class 1 for the current academic year. As per the NEP 2020 norm , the appropriate age for getting the children enrolled for class 1 is 6 years or above. This rule is going to be implemented from the 2025-26 academic year. This decision has been taken after a brain storming of the educationist, elites and academicians.

Renowned educationist R. N. Panda has stated that this is a welcome step by the central government. Children all across the country will be enrolled to class 1 at the same age which would help them to connect with each other well, grasp the study equitably and mindset in a perfect way. It will be helpful for the teachers as well to manage the children well. Earlier, there was time people used to hide their age and change or reduce it during the time of admission in the schools. So when they get into any government jobs their retirement age is fabricated as per the previously made mistakes in the system. There was no equality in age groups in education and enrollment.

This change in rule will bring equality in the age groups, as the capacity to learn, understand and produce results depend on age to a great extent. This is the first genuine step towards a better education system in India.

When the education of a child begins, physical, mental and intellectual ability come to play very important roles. This change in the norm would help to give an overall growth of the child from the primary level.

In the previous times, the parents used to put the child in class 1 at the age of 4 when they were unable to speak and understand properly. Now this new change will help to get a better growth in their understanding and performing capability as they would be at an upper age group while enrolled to class 1.
