Bhubaneswar: With a major push to strengthen emergency healthcare delivery, the Odisha government has invested ₹111 crore to induct 428 new ‘108’ ambulance vehicles into the state’s emergency response system. In the first phase, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate 150 ambulances, marking a significant upgrade to Odisha’s life-saving infrastructure.
The new fleet is aimed at improving response time, reach, and reliability of emergency medical services, particularly in rural, tribal, and hard-to-access regions. Equipped with advanced life-support systems and modern communication facilities, the ambulances are expected to play a crucial role in reducing preventable deaths due to delays in medical attention.
Officials said the phased rollout will ensure optimal deployment across districts, strengthening trauma care, maternal health services, and accident response. The initiative reflects the state government’s continued focus on accessible and timely healthcare, reinforcing the ‘108’ service as a critical lifeline for citizens in medical emergencies.
