Bhubaneswar: Puri is set to host the first-ever global meeting of doctors of Odia origin from January 24 to 26, marking a significant milestone for the state’s medical fraternity. The three-day international conference, titled UDAAN 1.0, is being organised by the Odia Health Association–Global and will bring together medical professionals from India and across the world.
The event aims to unite Odia-origin doctors on a common platform to deliberate on healthcare innovation, policy development, professional well-being, and service to society. The conference is being held under the theme “Seva Parama Dharma,” underscoring the ethical, humanitarian, and service-oriented values central to the medical profession.
According to the organisers, more than 250 senior doctors and healthcare leaders are expected to participate in person, while several others will join virtually from different countries. The programme includes nine structured sessions focusing on recent medical advancements, research and innovation, global best practices, and healthcare challenges specific to Odisha.
In addition to clinical and academic discussions, UDAAN 1.0 will address issues related to mental health, work–life balance, leadership development, and innovation in healthcare delivery. A key highlight of the event will be the inauguration of the Research and Innovation Cell (RICO), envisioned as a permanent platform to promote collaboration, research mentorship, and knowledge exchange among Odia medical professionals worldwide.
Organisers said the conference is expected to strengthen global networking within the Odia medical community and contribute to improving healthcare systems in Odisha through shared expertise and coordinated initiatives.
