Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will host the three-day Matsya–Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO) 2026 conclave from January 21 to January 23 at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, with a focus on strengthening rural livelihoods through fisheries, animal husbandry, and rural entrepreneurship.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the conclave, which is being organised by the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (FARD) Department, Government of Odisha. The theme of the event is “Innovative Interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Viksit Odisha.”
The conclave is expected to bring together more than 8,000 participants, including farmers, entrepreneurs, and women self-help group (WSHG) members from across the state. It is being positioned as a mega public exhibition aimed at showcasing modern practices, technologies, and business opportunities in fisheries and animal husbandry.
Key attractions of MPSO 2026 include the display of champion Murrah buffalo bulls such as Shurveer and Birla, highlighting superior breeding and genetics. The event will also feature live fish farming demonstrations, cage fish farming techniques, and an exhibition of the iconic Mahanadi Mahseer fish.
The Animal Resources Development (ARD) live showcase will present modern livestock rearing practices, animal health management, and productivity-enhancing techniques. In addition, seminars for farmers and entrepreneurs will focus on advanced skills, new technologies, and innovative farming models aimed at boosting income and self-reliance.
Apart from its technical and business-oriented focus, the conclave will offer several family-friendly attractions, including a pet zone, pet fashion show, dog show, and a special drone show illuminating the MPSO venue.
According to officials, MPSO 2026 is designed to benefit farmers by exposing them to modern innovations, provide youth with insights into viable rural business opportunities, and offer families an engaging and educational experience centered on Odisha’s rural creativity.
The state government sees the conclave as a key step toward achieving its long-term vision of Viksit Odisha by 2036, by integrating innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable practices in the fisheries and livestock sectors.
